This Ashley 1172 was on an old Ashley car Registration list
that I had been given many years ago and it was indicated as being an AshleyFord
Presumably Ford based, with the running gear, engine, gearbox and
other parts being used.
However there was no mention of Model type,
so may have looked like either of the above.

Checking with the DVLA and it appears not to have been taxed since August 1987

However the motor vehicle registration indicates that it was issued
in September 1959 by the
County Council of Devon, Devonshire.
From the DVLA information the Cylinder Capacity is shown as 4235cc, which corresponds exactly to the Jaguar/Daimler 4.2L 6cyl. engine capacity, however this engine wasn't in production until October 1964!
It could possibly had an engine swap at any time from 1964 until 1986 and the DVLA details updated at the time.
A note also indicates that in 1988 a Mr. N. Whitear of Basingstoke was the owner at that time.
