Hi. Spotted your web site when searching for 'Ashley 1172', and wondered if you know of anyone who might be interested in an Ashley 1172 body and most of the bits to build it up. I bought this many years ago and just haven't got the time to do it, too many other projects.
It is a 'new' shell, completely unused, still as it came out of the moulds. I have engine, gearbox, front and back axles, wheels and tyres from a Prefect.
When I bought it I also got a log book which states make and model as Ford, and Prefect Sports which may or may not be of use.
Look forward to hearing from you.

I replied that I was very interested in hearing more about the Ashley and it's time in his keeping plus any photo's that I could use on a webpage.
I was pleased that Graham emailed me photo's and gave me a good detailed account of the Ashley past 12 years in his care.

Hi Ivor,
Good to hear back from you. I bought the Ashley about 12 years ago with every intention of it being a reasonably straightforward project, (ha!, the best laid plans, etc....). It came from a guy just outside Oxford, who at the time had about 50 classic cars in barns on a farm.
It has since sat in my garage and moved house with us when we re-located to west Wales.
For the last few years it has been suspended from the roof of our barn, (first four photos below).

The following photos show the shell out in the yard. There is no floor or bulkhead, I'm don't know what would have originally been with the kit. There is a crack across the top of one wing, you should be able to see it in the photos.

The body, parts and logbook came from the same guy. The reg on the logbook is NAS 406, which is a non transferable number, (the original must have been used on something else). Date of first reg was 1956. There is no chassis with it, I had intended building a space-frame chassis, and I have one based on the Ron Chapman lowcost.
The intention was to modify this to suit.

The current V5 certificate specifies the following:

Year of Manufacture 1956
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1172cc
Fuel Type PETROL
Vehicle Status NOT LICENCED
Vehicle Colour BLUE
I don't know anything about the condition of the parts but quite interesting is the fact that the flexi brake pipes are braided steel, which would suggest that the owner was perhaps an enthusiast.
I've no idea what sort of interest or following these have or what it is worth.
It would be nice to think someone could complete it.

You may have noticed that sentence above
